Saying Good-by to Tranquil Tide

Dear Craftin' Friends,

Another week has flown by. I hope you've had time for some crafting. I've been sandwiching it into a very busy schedule, but I'm so thankful for this hobby that allows me to create something beautiful, purposeful, and rewarding.  While I love card making, I also love  to share my hobby with others. Sometimes the sharing is through hosting events. Sometimes the sharing occurs when I meet others who love the hobby. Sometimes the sharing happens when I send a card. And sometimes the sharing occurs by posting here, hoping to inspire others to create. I am grateful for opportunities to share what I love with you.

I thought this week I would share a little about how I am inspired to create. Often my ideas come from piggy-backing on the idea of another crafter. This week, I found a card on Pinterest that was posted by stampingeorgia.com. First, I CASED the card very closely. I changed the sentiment from the Love What You Do Stamp Set (Annual Catalog), used the stitched border die from the Be Mine Framelits Dies (Occasions), then I added some Tranquil Tide velvet ribbon (Holiday)and some Faceted Dots (Annual). I also used the Layering Ovals Dies, and the Lovely Floral Embossing Folder, which is retiring at the end of May. Make sure you don't delay if you think it needs to be added to your collection! You can access my store through the button at the top of the page.

After creating this card, I was really loving the colour combination, so I decided to use them to create another card. For more inspiration I went to a couple of blogs that host design challenges. Here's a picture of sketch challenge PCCC #333.

The Global Design Project's  Colour Challenge #185 is to desig a monochromatic card in a colour of your choice. I decided to play with the green tones of my inspiration card, and the sketch from the Paper Craft Crew challenge. Here's the card I created.

This card starts with a base of Tranquil Tide, then adds a layer of Mint Macaron using the Country Floral Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder (soon to be called 3D - so much easier to say!). I added even more texture with a strip of Tranquil Tide paper embossed with the Corrugated Dynamic Textured Impressing Embossing Folder, and some Tranquil Tide Velvet Ribbon. I used the Share What You Love Designer Series Paper again, fussy cutting one flower, and for the final touch I coloured some Pearl Basic Jewels with Mint Macaron Dark Stampin' Blends. Friends, colouring the Basic Jewels with Stampin' Blends alcohol ink markers is such a simple, inexpensive way to get jewels in many colours! You know you want the markers anyway for your colouring projects!
To "carry the party inside" as France Martin says, I stamped some flowers from the Love What You Do Stamp Set inside with Memento Tuxedo Black ink, and coloured them with Light and Dark Mint Macaron Stampin' Blends.

I am still loving the colour combination of Mint Macaron and Tranquil Tide, but sadly, Tranquil Tide is an ink colour that will retire when the new Stampin' Up Annual Catalog comes out. So if you love the colour as much as I do, you'll want to make sure you have the ink pad, re-inker, and plenty of cardstock. Make sure to order soon to ensure they are not sold out.

The Stampin' Up Annual Catalog ends June 3, 2019,  and products are available while supplies last. You can have a look at the products here or contact me for pdf  lists of the retiring products in both the Occasions Catalog or the Annual Catalog (I will need an e-mail address). The new catalog is amazing. I can't wait to get my hands on some of the new products, but there are quite a few "gems" from this year's catalog that will be retiring. Still other products from the catalogs are no longer available in their current format. For example, a clear stamp set may be available as a cling stamp. Or a bundle will be retired, but stamps and dies are available sold separately. If you are wondering about the availability of any specific products in the new catalog, feel free to contact me for more information.

As always friends, I appreciate your support in reading the blog, leaving a comment, or sharing either the blog or my Craftin' Granny Facebook posts with your friends. Please let me know how I can help you with your paper crafting projects.

Happy Crafting!
