Hello Craftin' Friends!
I've been up to my elbows in Halloween fun. I know, Halloween isn't until October, but my Paper Pumpkin kit arrived and I couldn't wait to get started creating. One look at those skeleton stamps and I was delighted with their scary cuteness! I've created two alternates for Paper Pumpkin this month, and you'll notice that I did add cardstock to the materials used in the kit. I also used a couple circle punches and Memento ink.
If you are a beginner crafter, of course Paper Pumpkin kits are an excellent choice for you, because they come with everything you need to make the project(s) and include instructions. This month's kit creates 20 incredibly cute treat boxes.
If you are a casual crafter, I think Paper Pumpkin is also an excellent choice for you. With the addition of a few extra supplies, you'll find you can create endless variations on the projects included in the kit, and the kit often has a few extras, which you can put to good use on alternate projects, as I've shown below. Not only that, but you'll be building your supply of stamps and ink spots as you subscribe each month. This project used die cuts, stamps and ink from the kit. I added cardstock and a couple retired enamel dots that I had left over. The circles were punched and layered - 2 1/4" in Basic Black cardstock and 2" in Gorgeous Grape cardstock.
The second alternate project used some additional thick Whisper White, Basic Black, and Pumpkin PIe cardstock and the 2" circle punch to create a hole in the black cardstock on the card front.
Inside this card I used the little bits I removed from the treat boxes to add a decorative element along the top and bottom of the card. I love the skeleton waving a Happy Halloween greeting.
If you are an avid paper crafter like myself, you may still find Paper Pumpkin to be a good purchase decision. Personally, I love a kit project now and again to take with me when I travel, or to complete when I want a less demanding creative activity. Or think of the die cuts as an ephemera package you might add to a card, scrapbook layout, mini album, or home decor piece.
Of course, Paper Pumpkin is a surprise. You don't know exactly what you're getting when you place the order. There are hints given (see the image below hinting at the colours and theme for October and November), and we often know whether the kit will make cards, tags, or another paper crafting project. October and November Paper Pumpkin kits are called Winter Wonders, and the projects will coordinate with one another. October's box will make 10 cards and Novembers box will make 24 tags. The colours will be Early Espresso, Pool Party, Poppy Parade and Shaded Spruce.
You can suspend Paper Pumpkin for a month if you're getting behind on your creating, and you can cancel at any time. The cost of Paper Pumpkin is $30 plus tax if ordered through a month by month subscription. What a great deal! You can subscribe here by creating an account and providing your payment information, or you can order prepaid kits (1 month $28 plus shipping and tax, 3 months $82.50 plus shipping and tax, 6 months $158 plus shipping and tax, or 12 months $300 plus shipping and tax) through my online store. The second option does involve creating an account and submitting a code to indicate the number of prepaid months.
If I haven't convinced you to subscribe yet, perhaps you'd like to see what I've created from some past kits. Take a look at the Paper Pumpkin album of photos on Craftin' Granny's Facebook page.
Whether you're a Paper Pumpkin subscriber or not, I hope you enjoyed my Halloween projects today.
Thanks for stopping by, and as always,
Happy Stamping!
