Simple Coloured Christmas Card

Hi there Craftin' Friends.

Life has been so busy on the home front lately. Perhaps some day I will learn to leave enough "margin" in my life that the unexpected events that come up don't cause me to be overbooked! One can always hope...

Because of the craziness of my days, I decided a simple card was in order. Today's card is a Christmas Card using the God's Peace Stamp Set. This stamp set took me back to memories of Christmas from my childhood. As a little girl I loved colouring, and Santa always put a colouring book in my stocking. I remember one Christmas when my sister and I woke very early. We were allowed to open our stockings before our parents got up, and we had pretty much coloured the entire colouring books before they appeared to open the rest of our gifts.

The God's Peace Stamp Set image has thick black lines that reminded me of those colouring books from my childhood. Because of this, I found stamping on the Stamparatus, which allows repeated stamping of the same image in the same spot, helped to get a nice, clear image for colouring. I stamped the image and sentiment with Memento Tuxedo Black ink multiple times onto a stitched rectangle die cut from Whisper White cardstock.

The Stampin' Blend colours I used were Real Red Light and Dark, Daffodil Delight Dark, and Shaded Spruce Dark. The image was quite easy to colour. I think I'll be doing some of these with our Watercolor Pencils, as well for a softer look.

I chose Shaded Spruce cardstock for my card base. Because I wanted to wrap the Real Red 3/8" cotton ribbon around the card front, I cut an extra layer of Shaded Spruce 4 1/4" by 5 1/2", and added a piece of vellum 2 1/2" by 4 1/4" centred over the Shaded Spruce cardstock. Then I cut the Real Red ribbon and attached it at the back. This was glued onto the card front. Next I matted the stitched rectangle onto a piece of Real Red cardstock 3 1/8" by 4 1/2", and popped it up on the card front with dimensionals near the right edge of the card front. Finally, I tied a double bow from the ribbon and used glue dots to attach it to the left edge of the card.

With this stamp set, there's a row of tiny poinsettias, that I stamped twice across the top, and twice across the bottom of the panel for the inside of the card. I finished by adding Christmas Blessings from the Light and Peace Stamp Set for my sentiment inside.

I hope you enjoyed the card today, and can see how easy it is to put together a card quickly with some cardstock, a little stamping, a little colouring, and a ribbon or rhinestones to finish it off.
