This Sunday I'm hosting my final class of the Holiday Season. We'll be making the Christmas ornaments shown below. These ornaments are totally cased from other demonstrators, so I must give credit to Julie DiMatteo , Sonia Benedetti, and Catherine Proctor for their inspiration.
The first ornament uses Cherry Cobbler Cardstock and the Perfectly Plaid Designer Series Paper. I added some retired Cherry Cobbler ribbon, but the new Cherry Cobbler Diagonal Stripe Ribbon would work really well. Why not try this ornament in a few patterns to add some beautiful, homemade flavour to your Christmas tree. Or fill the ornament with treats and give them away to guests. A favourite family tradition from my childhood was the "candy tree" we had. Each year we pinned treats to a styrofoam tree to give to guests when they visited. These ornaments would be even better than the candy tree!
The second ornament was a labour of love as I stamped with Versa Mark and heat embossed each section with copper embossing powder. I loved the DSP we had last year using Merry Merlot and Sahara Sand with the Copper accents, so I chose those colours for this ornament. Of course, the sky is the limit with colour choices for this project. Go traditional with Real Red and Garden Green, or go wild with pastels, bold jewel tones, or any other combo that catches your fancy! If you want a quicker project, just punch ornament shapes from your favourite Designer Series Paper. To finish my ornament, I used the sentiment from the Tidings All Around Stamp Set, and a Stitched Circle cut from Copper Foil. I created a hanger (not seen) using Braided Linen Trim.
The final ornament is a nice sized, ball shaped ornament. For this project I used the striped Real Red and Whisper White pattern from the Let It Snow Designer Series Paper. I embellished this with a couple Garden Green sprigs punched with the Sprig Punch, and a Garden Green sentiment from the Greatest Part of Christmas Stamp Set, punched out with a 2 inch Circle Punch. If you don't own our Stampin' Up punches, you really need to start collecting them. I love how quickly they make a project come together, and they are so durable and versatile. You can't go wrong with a tool like that!
Hope you enjoyed seeing my sampler of Christmas ornaments. I had a blast creating them, and think it would be neat to have a tree one year with only handmade ornaments. What do you think?
