Hey Craftin' Friends!
This month's Paper Pumpkin Kit came just in time to make some Father's Day cards that are bright and fun. My Dad loved to play ball back in the day, and I remember sitting at the ball park watching him play. My husband also enjoyed playing ball, mainly Slow Pitch in the church league. Of course, they always needed women players so I got hooked into playing as well, although I can't really throw, catch, or hit well at all. LOL! This month's kit had me remembering so many summer experiences at the ball diamond!
A post from Georgia Lane on the Paper Pumpkin Fan Club page on Facebook inspired two of my cards. The first card I created with my son in mind. He is such a great Dad and puts so much effort into being there for his two littles! You can see a video tutorial for how to make this card here.
I had some technical difficulties while demonstrating how to make the second card during my Facebook LIVE, so I will just give a few measurements here. The bottom white piece was 1 1/4" by 5 1/4". The two white side pieces were 1" by 2 1/2". I inked the Bark Embossing Folder with Smoky Slate ink, then placed the cut paper inside and embossed the 3 white pieces. The red/white/grey card base was cut to 2 11/16 by 3 13/16". The white mat was 2 7/8" by 4". I inked this with Smoky Slate. The sentiment piece was 2" square with corners rounded, and the Pacific Point mat was 2 3/16" square with the corners rounded.
Inside the card I stamped Wishing You A Happy Father's Day from the A Wish For Everything Stamp Set in Smoky Slate, then added a Real Red ball cap.
Since my hubby is a Grandpa now, I thought it would be fun to make a card for Grandpa. For this card I used one of the Soft Suede card bases from the kit. I stamped the Grandpa sentiment and the ball cap (fussy cut out) in Real Red, and the All Star sentiment in Pacific Point.
Inside this card, I stamped the bat in Soft Suede and the sentiment in Pacific Point. I created a little baseball by stamping the watercolour stamp from the Painted Poppies Stamp Set in Smoky Slate. Then, using my 1/2" circle punch (retired), I punched out a little baseball. I inked the edges of this with Smoky Slate, and added a little stitching on the baseball with my Real Red Stampin' Write marker. One more fussy cut ball cap finished it off.
The final card is the second one I cased from Georgia Lane. I loved the pennants that she created, so I created some of my own. I used a 7/8" strip of Night of Navy cardstock and a White Chalk marker to draw lines (1/8", 1/4", 5/8", 3/4"). The notches were added with my Tailored Tag punch. The Bumblebee layer was embossed with the Bark Embossing Folder again, and this went on a Night of Navy card base.
Inside the card I stamped my sentiment in Night of Navy, a Smoky Slate bat, and another little baseball and Real Red ball cap.
I hope you like this month's alternate cards. Next month's Paper Pumpkin Kit promises to be just as much fun! It will have 2 ink spots (wee ink pads) and materials to make 9 cards.
