Hello Beautiful Craftin' Friends!
Today's cards are so beautiful, but I just couldn't go wrong with the Abstract Beauty DSP and the Hello Beautiful Bundle. The first three cards were shown in my Facebook LIVE video this past Thursday, so you can follow instructions to make them here.
The next card had me reflecting back on my teaching days in the primary grades. I was playing with pattern blocks in my mind! What do you think of the flower I created?
Measurements:
- Just Jade Cardstock - Card Base 4 1/4" by 11", scored at 5 1/2"; scrap for die cutting 6 diamonds and 6 triangles; 2 1/8" square for die cutting circle
- Gold Foil - 2 1/4" by 3 1/2" to die cut 6 hexagons
- Black splatter DSP to die cut 6 trapezoids
- Ombre Just Jade DSP 4" by 5 1/4
- Basic White Cardstock 4" by 5 1/4" for card insert
- 3 gold metallic pearls
The beautiful DSP had me thinking paper strips, so this card used a variation of the scrappy strips technique. I cut my DSP straight at 3/8", 1/2", and 5/8" widths, then glued it in an angled pattern on a piece of Misty Moonlight Cardstock.
Measurements:
- Misty Moonlight Cardstock 4 1/4" by 11", scored at 5 1/2"; 3 1/8" by 4 3/8" to hold DSP strips
- Magenta Madness Cardstock 3 1/2" by 4 3/4"; 1 1/2" by 3" for die cut
- Basic White Cardstock 3 1/4" by 4 1/2"; 1: by 2" for die cut; 4" by 5 1/4" for card insert
- 4" denim ribbon
- DSP strips cut at 3/8", 1/2", and 5/8" (I used 2 at 3/8", 2 at 1/2" and 3 at 5/8")
On the next card I had some fun playing with some of the background stamps. I also used the Tasteful Textile Embossing Folder to add texture to the stamped image by stamping in the ink, then stamping on the embossing folder, then stamping on the paper. I used Balmy Blue, Blushing Bride, and Just Jade stamped off once for the larger stamped shapes. The "spots" and the sentiment were done in Memento Tuxedo Black ink.
Measurements:
- Just Jade cardstock 4 1/4" by 11", scored at 5 1/2"; 1/4" strip run through Tasteful Textile Embossing Folder to layer with sentiment; 2 5/8" by 4 1/4"
- Basic White Cardstock - cut 2 at 4" by 5 1/4" (one for card insert); 2 7/8" by 4 1/2"; 2 1/2" by 4 1/8"; 3/8" strip for sentiment
- Polka Dot DSP 3 7/8" by 5 1/8"
- Balmy Blue plaid DSP 1/2" by 2 1/2"
- 18" white twine
The final card I'm sharing today did not use the Hello Beautiful Bundle, but it did use the Abstract Beauty DSP. Instead my sentiment came from the Artfully Layered Stamp Set and I used both the Stitched So Sweetly and the Flowers of Home Dies.
- Basic Black Cardstock 5 1/2" by 8 1/2", scored at 4 1/4"; 3" by 4 1/4"; 1 3/8" by 2 3/8"
- Gold Foil 3 1/4" by 4 1/2" (cut floral pieces from the Flowers of Home Dies from the center of this piece as it will be hidden)
- Basic White Cardstock 1 1/2" by 2 1/2" to die cut scalloped rectangle; 4" by 5 1/4" for card insert
- Black/White/Gold Floral DSP - punch 4 postage stamp pieces (I turned 2 over so I had two with the flowers and 2 with the black splatters
- Black/Grey/White diagonal DSP 4" by 5 1/4"
- 3 Black Classic Matte Dots
