Celebrate Every Little Victory!

Hello friends.

Today's post is all about celebrating the small victories. As a caregiver, it's funny what turns into a battle, or a struggle, or even just a frustration. I find it challenging getting everyone at my house fed. It's not that I don't have time to cook. Now that I'm retired, I usually have time to prepare a meal. But lately the folks at my house haven't been much interested in food, so knowing what to prepare can be a challenge. Finding a meal that people are happy to eat is a victory!

Getting a laugh out of a confused and agitated parent is a victory. Woo hoo!

Getting a jump start on the yard work is a victory. Yay for me!

I hope you take time to celebrate the small victories in your life. It can take the sting out of the times when life's challenges get the better of you.

I find each creative project to be a little challenge, and I feel a small victory when I'm satisfied with the finished product. Today's card is a fun fold card that I've been wanting to try. This card was created for my grandson's second birthday. (Getting it into the mail, even though it was late, was a minor victory, LOL!)

I chose the Painted Seasons DSP (149574) in Grapefruit Grove and Pool Party for my card, as I thought they suited my grandson. The Birthday Cheer Bundle (150576)  also seemed fun for a child's birthday card. I love the cupcake edgelits, and using them with the adhesive sheet (144106) made this quick to assemble. After die cutting the edgelit with the adhesive sheet, I adhered it to some Whisper White Cardstock, then fussy cut around the edgelit. This is really easy fussy cutting as the thickness of the cardstock guides your scissors. I also die cut the largest Stitched Shapes Framelits (145372) square, popped it up on dimensionals, then added tags cut in Grapefruit Grove, Pool Party and Whisper White. The 1/8" Whisper White Sheer Ribbon (144172) was coloured using Grapefruit Grove and Pool Party Stampin' Write markers to keep the continuity of the colours on the card.

Adding the cupcake stamp inside the card in the two featured colours just seemed to tie the card all together. Then the sentiment seemed just right for a little boy.

I've been wanting to try making this type of fun fold card for awhile (although I don't really know what it's called. Perhaps if you know, you can comment below. I used a standard card base in Grapefruit Grove Cardstock, 4 1/4 by 11", scored at 5 1/2". The Whisper White Thick Cardstock was cut to 3 7/8" by 10 5/8", then scored at 5 1/8" and 2 3/4" from the opposite end. I folded the Whisper White Cardstock similar to a Z fold, but attached it  to the Grapefruit Grove base with the card opening at the bottom. The Grapefruit Grove DSP was 3 5/8" by 4 15/16", and the Pool Party DSP was 2 1/2" by 3 5/8".

All of the products used in this card are available through my Stampin' Up store, although the Birthday Cheer Bundle is close to being sold out, so get it while you can! Just click the SHOP button at the top of the page.

Please take a minute to leave me a comment. I'd love to hear about your projects, or get to know you a little. I hope you'll join me again on Thursday night, 7 pm EST, at Craftin' Granny's Facebook Page for a Live video featuring a "Smash Album" with birthday pictures from my grandson's birthday. Pictures are super important for a Grandma who's a distance away, don't you think?
