Today's cards are so beautiful, and so simple to create, I had to make two of them! I know you're going to love how I used the Magnolias from Thursday evening's Facebook Live. In case you haven't seen it, I've added the link below, but first, take a look at these easel cards.
As I said, these cards are not difficult to make. They start with a Whisper White Cardstock base cut to a standard 5 1/2" by 8 1/2", scored at 4 1/4". The card on the left is a wedding card, and features soft, subtle colours - Soft Seafoam, So Saffron, and Gray Granite. The card on the right is a birthday card, and uses Petal Pink, Pear Pizzaz, and Basic Gray.
As shown above, this card uses the Floral Essence sentiment for a wedding. In this photo, you can see that the Soft Seafoam is embossed using the Subtles 3D Embossing Folder, as is the "Window Box" cut out of Gray Granite. The pearls are not from Stampin' Up as I was away from home visiting - and borrowing pearls seems somehow appropriate for a wedding!
The above photo shows the inside of the card, stamped with a flower and leaves from the Floral Essence Stamp Set. The flower and center were stamped off to keep with the subtle tones of the card.
The mechanism for the easel cards is just a piece of Whisper White cardstock 2" by 2 3/4". Turning so the long side was against the top of my trimmer, I scored at 5/8", flipped the paper end over end, and scored at 1 3/8". Now I glued the 1 3/8" end to the back of my stitched rectangle, making sure that the entire mechanism would not show when the card is laid flat. The center of the mechanism stays free, but the top section is attached to the card front with dimensionals. The gray piece of cardstock is also popped up on dimensionals, and tucked below the stitched rectangle to look a little like a window box when the easel front is propped up (See below).
The second card is created in the same way. For this card I used Metallic Pearls and a Gingham Gala Sequin on the card front, and the window box is embossed using the Pinewood Planks 3D Embossing Folder.
The birthday sentiment for inside this card comes from the Magnolia Blooms Stamp Set. The Enjoy Today sentiment on the card front is heat embossed using White Embossing Powder. The magnolia inside the card is from the Good Morning Magnolia Stamp Set,and is coloured with Petal Pink and Old Olive Light Stampin' Blends.
As promised above, here is the link for the Facebook Live, with a demonstration of how to make the Magnolias on the card fronts using the dies from the Good Morning Magnolia Bundle.
