Hello friends!
As I'm writing this, the sun is trying to come in the window, and I'm grateful as it's been a frosty day for the end of April. The Paper Pumpkin Kit this month was definitely sunny with it's bright colours and summertime theme. I admit that I could have been quite happy just making the cards as shown in the instruction sheet, so I saved one of each item to do the projects as shown. But in the interest of variety and crafting playtime, I did make quite a few alternates. Smile!
The first three cards are included in the video tutorial (Facebook LIVE). Please take a look to get details on measurements, etc.
With one watermelon card I created an easel card. I pulled out some clouds from a previous Paper Pumpkin Kit to add with the sun sticker.
I used an envelope liner to create DSP for inside the card.
With the second watermelon card, I used the backing of the above card to create an extra layer inside so that I could add a magnetic closure. I used the 1/2" circle punch (retired) to hide the magnet on the front of the card.
Inside the card I stamped my birthday sentiment and a watermelon which I coloured with Stampin' Blends. Because of the extra layer hiding the magnet, the colouring doesn't show through.I created one card using the Right Triangles Stamp Set to stamp diagonal lines across a popsicle (cut off the back of another card base). By swiping my mini ink pads across the stamp I was able to get lines in two colours. I used my stamparatus for the stamping to make sure I got good colour on my lines. I had to use the triangle stamp twice to cover the entire popsicle. I also pulled out some Bermuda Bay Twine from a previous Sale-a-bration item to go behind my sentiment. I'm really trying to pull in some of my old items that co-ordinate with the kits!
The final card today was fun to make. I actually stamped the popsicle image on one of the popsicle card bases to make the smaller popsicles which I fussy cut for this card. (The back of this card base was the one used for the above card.) The card base is Terracotta Tile. I'm going to miss that colour!I hope you liked the alternate cards this month. Next month's kit is all about the ball - baseball that is. I'm looking forward to creating something for Father's Day with those materials, although I haven't seen the stamp set yet. If you'd like to sign up for Paper Pumpkin, you can sign up for next month's kit up to May 10th by clicking the link here. There's a limited time offer for first time subscribers to get a kit for $7.00. The offer begins May 8 @ 2am Eastern Time, and runs until the kits allocated for the Subscribathon are gone. At that time the kits return to the regular price. Thanks for checking out the cards today. I would love for you to leave me a comment to let me know what you think of the cards.
