Hi Craftin' Friends.
Don't you just love learning new stamping techniques. The Jospeh's Coat technique has been around a long time, but every now and then there's a stamp set that just seems suited to this technique. Lisa Bowell's card using the Joseph's Coat technique inspired me to create my own version as well. Here's Lisa's card. I love the colours she used and the gold ribbon really adds some sparkle. For a written tutorial on how to make this card, please go to Craftin' Granny's and click the link to find my Craftin' Granny's Stamping Friends Group. Of course, you can purchase the supplies to make this card in my online store.
Now, as I said, I was inspired to CASE Lisa's card, and I decided to borrow the colour scheme from the Blackberry Beauty DSP, although no DSP appears in the card. For my card, I used Bumblebee, Cinnamon Cider, Rich Razzleberry and Blackberry Bliss Ink to create my background. I also used our blending brushes to apply the ink. I used a paper that was larger than necessary and cut it down to size later. Here you see the first two colours added.I ended with something like you see below after adding the additional colours.
Next, I stamped the leaves in the clear ink. I recommend doing these a few at a time and embossing as it's hard to see where you've been with the VersaMark ink. Adding the embossing powder helps you to see more clearly.
I chose to add Early Espresso ink for my "Joseph's Coat" background, instead of the traditional black.I absolutely loved how it looked, but me being me, I decided to add some gold embossed leaves on top. I was inspired by Lisa's gold ribbon of course. Unfortunately, I did not wait long enough for my brown ink to dry. When I added the embossing powder, it looked like this. (Yes, I am bravely showing you my mistake!) I'm really hoping this will help prevent you from having the same problem. On my second try, I let the ink dry overnight, then went ahead and added my gold embossing with the little leaves. I also switched the Bark 3D Embossing Folder for the Tasteful Textiles folder that Lisa used, just because I thought bark and leaves went together. My outside sentiment is from the Counting Sheep Stamp Set.The card was a little darker than I imagined, and I loved that gold shine, so I decided to switch up the Rich Razzleberry layer with a stitched rectangle of gold foil.Inside the card I added a couple strips from my embossed paper to give it some interest. My inside sentiment is from the In Your Words Host Stamp Set.I'd really like to know what you think of my card. Did you like the gold foil or the Rich Razzleberry? Please leave a comment below to let me know.
Thanks for stopping by today.
