Seaside Notions - Sum, Sum, Summertime Cards

Hi there Craftin' Friends!

Today's cards use the beautiful and fun Seaside Notions Stamp Set item #149278. I have so many happy memories of days spent at the beach. Lake or ocean, I just love to wade into the water feeling the sand beneath my feet, and if I'm lucky enough to catch a day with a breeze, playing in the waves is just as much fun now as when I was a child! Whether you are dreaming of past visits to the beach, or longing for your next trip, you're sure to love creating with the Seaside Notions stamps.

This stamp set does not include dies or punches, but if you don't mind a little fussy cutting, the images are lovely and suitable to make cards for any age or gender. I had a great time using a variety of stamping techniques while creating with this set. The sentiments included in this stamp set also help to make it very versatile, and because most of them are similar in size, you can easily substitute one for another to make the card suitable for your needs.

The first two cards I'm sharing today were featured on a Facebook LIVE video, so if the techniques used are new to you, be sure to take a look.

My first card is a clean and simple looking card, using Stampin' Write markers (Subtles - item #147156) and an acrylic block (D - item 118485) to create the watercolour background. By creating some masks with a postit note, I was able to layer the stamps to create the card below.

The second card used a combination of heat embossing and sponging. Thank you to Julie Gilson at stampingala.com for the idea of using gold heat embossing with this set. I used a piece of Whisper White cardstock about 5 3/4" by 8 1/2" and randomly heat embossed the images from this stamp set over the entire piece. The sponging is done next, then I splattered some water drops on the ink. Finally, I die cut the squares to create this card. Don't you just love this technique! It took me 30-40 minutes to do all of the heat embossing, but it was totally worth it. I also heat embossed the images that are fussy cut and layered over the die cut squares.

Here's another card I made using more of the heat embossed cardstock. I did use some retired braided trim on the next two cards, but you could substitute some linen thread (item #104199) wound around the card and fastened on the back, with or without a bow. To mat the tailored tag punch, I punched two in Pacific Point cardstock, then cut one in half vertically, and one in half horizontally. I glued these to the back of the Whisper White sentiment piece, and popped it up on Stampin' dimensionals.

The final card used heat embossed images, fussy cut, then coloured using Watercolour Pencils - item #141709. I added some sequins left over from a Paper Pumpkin Kit. You could substitute Gold Glitter Enamel Dots - item #152155 if you don't have any sequins.

If you would like written instructions for these four cards, just place an order of $45 or more through my online store using Host Code N4MMHMS2.
