Hi there Craftin' Friends!
It's been a snowy week here in Brantford, Ontario. We had heavy snow on Tuesday, which meant I stayed at home in the craft room. I don't know if you can tell from this photo how deep the ruts are in the snow on our hill. At this point in the day, no cars were going up the hill, only down. Of course, what we experienced is nothing compared to those I've been hearing about in Texas with no hydro or water. Here in Ontario, a heavy snowfall is a temporary inconvenience at worst, and at best, a lot of fun! The snow didn't prevent Ziva and I from going for our morning walk.
The cards this week all feature the Hydrangea Haven Bundle from the January to June Mini Catalogue. This bundle has a lot of stamps, both images and sentiments, and a wonderful set of dies, which make it a lot of fun to play with. For my Facebook Live video last Thursday evening, I shared two cards. One that demonstrated the beautiful texture you can create with the dies in the bundle, and one that demonstrated the two step stamping that can be done with the stamps.
Check out all the texture on this card!
And inside the card a simple open line stamp adds charm.
The two step stamping means a faster way to add colour to the stamped hydrangea images.
I had a lot of fun with the next fun fold card. It's like a joy fold card turned vertically. I used one of the floral images stamped repeatedly to create some patterned paper for the bottom of the card. This card was coloured using Stampin' Blends: Highland Heather and Purple Posy for the blooms, and Old Olive for the leaves. I liked the added depth of colour I got when I used to coordinating blend colours for the flower head. I also love the dies for sentiments that come with this bundle. Note the Thank you on the tag die.
Inside the card I added a second sentiment, to complement the Thank you on the card front.
The final card today uses Misty Moonlight and Seaside Spray for beautiful blue hydrangeas. I tried both Wink of Stella, and Shimmery Crystal Effects on the centres of the flowers. Although you can see the Crystal Effects on this photo, I think I did like the simpler Wink of Stella best. These flowers were "coloured" using both Seaside Spray and Misty Moonlight ink, applies with our brand new blending sponges on page 70 in the January to June Mini Catalogue.
I couldn't resist adding more texture to this card with the Pinewood Planks Embossing Folder.
