Kylie's International Highlights - Winners Blog Hop

 Hello Craftin' Friends!

I'm so excited today to be hopping with the other winners of Kylie Bertucci's International Blog Highlights for October. It's such a privilege to be included in this group!

The Thank You card I created definitely has me in a sunny frame of mind. I love sunflowers, and always try to enjoy some in my home in the fall. I created this card using a card by Beth Wainright as a sketch. By altering the colours, DSP choice, focal piece and sentiment, I think I really made it my own.

Do you remember the romantic comedy in 2005, "Must Love Dogs". Well, to make this card you must love fussy cutting! I started out stamping two of the large sunflowers in Cinnamon Cider ink on Basic White cardstock, then coloured both layers with Mango Melody Dark, Daffodil Delight Light and Dark, and Soft Suede Light and Dark Stampin' Blends. I cut the bottom layer of my sunflower out as stamped, but the top layer I cut off some petals to make a slightly smaller flower. The depth and texture added by doing this was well worth the time. The leaves were stamped with Old Olive ink, then Coloured with Mossy Meadow Dark, Old Olive Dark, and Old Olive Light Stampin' Blends. I fussy cut these as well. The brick patterned paper is from the Bloom Where You're Planted DSP. Although it didn't show well in the photo, I also embossed the Basic White background with the Tasteful Textile 3D Embossing Folder.

To create the panel behind my large sunflower, I randomly stamped the smaller sunflower in Cinnamon Cider over the Basic White cardstock. Then, instead of colouring the flowers, I coloured around the outside of the flowers. I loved how this turned out, so I repeated the process on my envelope!

If you're interested in some cards in non-traditional colours using the Celebrate Sunflowers Stamp Set, I'd love for you to check out this video

Of course the materials used to make these cards are available in my online store. If you liked the card today, I would be so thrilled if you'd leave a comment to let me know. Thanks for visiting my blog.

Happy Crafting!
